There are many dining options in Punta Cana, but perhaps none quite like AmaLuna.
AmaLuna has a truly magical location, set in the lush gardens of owner Maddalena Meiani’s home. Nothing is left to chance in the delightful setting; this beautiful outdoor restaurant is exquisitely designed, and the ambience is stylish, warm, and inviting.
Originally from Italy, Maddalena has been a resident of Punta Cana for nearly ten years. She wanted to open a restaurant unlike any other, combining the coziness of its setting with Meiani’s healthy lifestyle, with an emphasis on a holistic approach to food. Dining at Ama Luna isn’t just about getting a great meal; it’s about becoming aware of your surroundings, your environment, and yourself.
“I wanted to do something different with AmaLuna,” explains Maddalena, “something in tune with what motivate me most – Nature. I am passionate about organic food, and I want my customers to know that eating well means being fully aware of the food we put in our bodies.”
Maddalena didn’t want a specific kind of food other than a menu which provides an interesting, different, healthy and creative alternative. AmaLuna’s menu is the result of searching for the perfect ingredients, dedication to making the best food, and inspiration from Nature. The food will surprise the most demanding of palates.
AmaLuna produces all its own food, and none of it comes from animals. Customers are surprised and delighted that the delicious yogurts, cheeses, and desserts are all dairy-free, and even the meat is of course meatless!
Head Chef Manuel Celiz, originally from Argentina, studied under the great Italian vegan chef Martino Beria. Manuel and his team are continually trying new tastes and flavors in the kitchen, and strive to make mouth-watering food with texture, depth, and beauty.
Maddalena and Manuel teach a workshop on veganism – Food Viva Vegan Conscious – and it has proved so successful, they are planning a series of courses coming soon.
Once a month AmaLuna closes its doors for a private, reservation-only evening, when Maddalena and Manuel invite a guest chef to prepare a special vegan menu.
